Manuscript, in a single hand, of a collection of about 700 epigrams and short humorous or light verses. Many address the subjects of love, marriage, women, and vanity; the volume contains numerous verses on marriages between humorously named individuals, including On the marriage of Mr. Foot to Miss Patten; On the marriage of Miss Lamb to Mr Lion; and On the marriage of Mr Penny to Miss Penny. Titles of verses on other subjects include The air balloon; Praise of ale; On a drunken man; A wig-gish pun; To Walter Scott; Epigram on tobacco; On Colonel Blood; and To an affected old maid. The collection also includes verses on tradesmen, Welshmen, preachers, and animals.
